2 HR TASTER - Private Hire of Throwing Studio

£600.00

Taster Class - 2 Hours Privately Taught Class - Full Space Hire

In this fun introductory class you will get familiar with the potters wheel and learn what it is like to have a go at throwing. Each attendee has their own dedicated potters wheel and there is a maximum of 10 people who attend each class. You will be able to start learning the basics from weighing up your clay balls, to centering, pulling up the walls of your pots to using your tools. You will then have a go at a bowl form, having watched the teacher demonstrate the process to you.

We aim for a more sustainable approach in our taster courses. Clay and many of the materials that potters use have to be excavated from quarries and have an environmental impact. We therefore encourage only the best work to be pushed through the firing processes since it is a material that can be reused and recycled infinite amount of times up until the point it is fired. You can learn from cutting through your pieces to analyse how best to improve your techniques. If you wish to keep one of your works, each pot kept will be £10. Half of that cost will then go to supporting Forest School activities and planting trees and other such organisations.

A Maximum of 10 Students Attending- Taught for a Two Hour Class - £600

If 10 attend this is £60 per head which is our normal Taster Class Cost Per Head.

[Fixed price no matter the number attending as this is a full private hire of space]

All classes will take place in the pottery at:  11-12 Crown Works, Temple Street, London, E26QQ

Price includes all materials used in the session.

You will still be able to keep your pots if you wish, each pot kept will be £10 and half of that cost will then go to supporting Forest School activities and planting trees and other such organisations. At the end of each year we will tally up the amount raised and what we have done with the proceeds.

Pots will be ready usually within three weeks, but sometimes longer depending on firing schedules. You will be notified by email when your pots are ready. We ask that you pick up or arrange for your pots to be delivered to you (for an additional fee) within one month of the original pick up email being sent out. If your pieces have not been picked up or sent within this time-frame then we regret that we will have had to give to our local community, as we are so limited on shelf space.

A welcome email with further instructions about what to expect before your class is sent around a week before your class commences. This email will be sent to the email provided at booking.

We really hope that you enjoy your workshop with us!
