Taught by Artist George Young

Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th of April- 11:00-17:00

This two day class aimed at any level of ability will give the basic principles upon which a figurative clay sculpture can be based and how it can be developed into a sophisticated art form. You will work at creating anatomy in proportion and finding the best ways to support the postures you are aiming for, helped by anatomical references from books and your teachers expertise. Techniques for hair and facial characteristics will also be a focus. You will come away with one ‘bisque’ fired sculpture which will be able to be picked up around 3 weeks after your class has taken place.

George Young is an artist living and working in London. He is primarily known for painting and printmaking and has shown widely throughout Europe and the U.S. Over the past 15 years he has had experience working in sculpture, installation and film, both as a Director (of Richard Batterham Independent Potter) and in set building for the movie industry. Using his experience of materials and art historical research, George is able to give insights into how a successful 3D bas relief can be achieved and perfected on the surface of a pot, as part of architectural ornament and as a stand alone object.

If your pieces have not been picked up or sent within this time-frame then we regret that we will have had to dispose the work, as we are so limited on shelf space.
