In a 6 week throwing class you will learn the basics of throwing, including centering the clay on the wheel, throwing cylinders and bowls, turning the bases of your work.

We split the weeks into three parts. The first three weeks will be about throwing different shapes and between the fourth and firth week you will turn your work. We will then fire your work to a ‘bisqued’ state allowing you to glaze your work in your last class. You will have at least 6 glazes to choose from.

The Monday Intermediate class are for those who have specifically got to a stage where they want to focus on larger and more complex forms as a whole class.

For all the other evenings if you have already taken classes, we will work with you after the initial class demonstrations to help you with the specific techniques you need to improve on and to tackle new forms. We will discuss the weights of clay appropriate for your aims right at the beginning of each class.

The course allows you to keep 8 pots per student, if you do wish to keep further pots, we have a card machine in the studio with which we charge £10 per extra vessel. This fee is to cover the clay, firings and us glazing your pieces for you. We do however encourage students to be as critical of their work as possible and only keep what they know they will use, or is going to sit proudly somewhere to look at, as we want to aim to be as environmentally friendly as possible and clay can only be recycled pre their firings, but not after!

There will be a maximum of 10 people attending. Each person has their own dedicated potters wheel. You will be required to wear a mask before entering the studio and for the duration of your class, as well as allowing us to take your temperature pre entering the studio.

All classes will take place in the pottery at: 11 Crown Works, Temple Street, London, E26QQ

Aprons will no longer be provided to adhere to covid-19 secure rules, please bring your own if you would like to wear one, these will need to be taken away at the end of each class.

Please make sure you can attend all dates, as it is not possible to swap your days with other class attendees on other evenings, or makeup sessions on other times. This is part of our T&C’s to note before booking.

Price includes all materials, glazes and firings.

You will be able to come and pick up your final pieces once they are out of the kiln and have cooled down, usually three weeks after your class, but sometimes this can take longer. This will be arranged over email by Giulietta when your work is ready.

We regret that if you have not picked up your pots within one months of the original pick up email being sent out, then we will have had to dispose of the pots as we are so limited on shelf space. We can also offer a postal service of pots for an additional charge if this works best for you.

WHAT HAPPENS TO MY BOOKING IF THERE IS ANOTHER SHUT DOWN

• If the government enforce another lockdown then we will offer either a refund or a chance to reschedule to all students who haven’t already begun a course. Rescheduling will be done through giving you a code to the value of your original booking.

• If you are halfway through the course, we will refund you the remainder of the value of the sessions you have not been able to take.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I AM ILL WITH SUSPECTED OR DIAGNOSED COVID OR ANY OTHER ILLNESS BEFORE A CLASS TAKES PLACE

• If we are given 8 or more days notice, we will offer you a refund or reschedule.

• If we are given 7 or less days notice, we are unable to offer you a refund or reschedule as this is not enough time to resell your place. We do however allow you to send any friend or family member of your choice to class in your place.
