Alexandra Dedes

Alex is a ceramic artist working primarily with local raw materials. Her practice celebrates the value of preserving material knowledge. Using local minerals and clays from her native Northumberland, she explores the narratives, both past and present that are held within. In valuing and being accountable for the entire process of making, she hopes that we can be more closely connected to the environment and the significance of its materials.

Within her practice she incorporates traditional hand-building and throwing techniques.  
Alex recently graduated from Central Saint Martins completing a BA (Hons) in Ceramic Design. She is currently based in East London.
