Alice Guillaume
Alice Guillaume is a ceramic designer and maker from Brussels. She studied architecture and engineering in Belgium before moving to London in 2016. Now based in Hackney, she works in various ceramic studios and collaborates with independent stores and cafes.
Her work is primarily hand-built, carefully constructed from two-dimensional slabs to three-dimensional objects. Her pieces are characterised by the use of various clays, letting their inherent textures and tones define the object and giving it a tactile quality. Glaze is used sparingly to make the work more functional, or as an accent to contrast and highlight the natural feel of these clay bodies.
She is interested in creating simple, utilitarian and beautiful objects for everyday use. Each piece is designed to bring a sense of joy and calm, to elevate the ordinary moments of modern life.
