Week 1: Core Throwing & Surface Design
Focus: Introduction to the wheel, fundamental forms, and surface decoration.

  • MondayIntroduction to Cylinders & Bowls (Instructor: TBC)
    Learn the fundamentals of throwing on the wheel, beginning with cylinder forms and progressing to bowls. Perfect for beginners or those refreshing their skills.

  • TuesdayFoundations in Throwing Larger Forms (Instructor: TBC)
    Continue throwing practice with a focus on refining form, improving symmetry, and developing consistency in basic shapes.

  • WednesdayThrowing Practice & Trimming (Instructor: TBC)
    Build on previous days with trimming techniques and feedback on your early pieces. Emphasis on developing rhythm and control.

  • ThursdayPlate Making (Instructor: TBC)
    Learn to throw and shape flatware, tackling common challenges like warping and rim strength. Explore both wheel-thrown and slab-built methods.

  • FridayPlates & Slip Trailing Decoration (Instructor: TBC)
    Finalise plate forms and experiment with surface decoration using slip trailing—a technique that adds texture and design.

Week 2: Functional Forms – Jugs & Bottles
Focus: Intermediate forms and precision throwing.

  • MondayJug Forms (Instructor: TBC)
    Learn to throw basic jug forms with larger weights.

  • TuesdayJug Forms Continued with Pulling Handles (Instructor: TBC)
    Develop awareness of form and function focusing on spouts and balance and tntroduction to pulling handles and attaching them to jug forms..

  • WednesdayOval Forms (Instructor: TBC)
    Introduction to altered forms on the wheel including oval dishes and square trays.

  • ThursdayBottle Forms (Instructor: TBC)
    Explore the elegant complexity of bottle shapes, including narrow necks, shoulder transitions, and throwing tall forms.

  • Friday Bottle Construction Continued (Instructor: TBC)
    Focus on refining and completing bottle forms, with attention to trimming, base finishing, and preparing for drying.
